I still love the country where I belong

This afternoon I was having a short conversation with one of my housemate. Our topic was about our beloved country, Indonesia. We watched a live streaming news about our country which currently pictured the demonstration between the college student and the authority.

After the short discussion, which obviously I was not good at, I decided to keep watching the streaming and finishing my paper. The live streaming shows the "cap goh meh" celebration in Indonesia, which also attended by the president and vice president (and the rest of the cabinet).
The intention of the event itself I believe is very good and I hope it pass to the audience with the same message.

Political issue is not my expertise. I hardly know who my own town governor - trust me - but my heart still (apparently) falling in love with this country, albeit myself is an IBC (Indonesian born Chinese). For years, IBC got so much discrimination. It's only in the last decade the IBCs are acknowledged. Well, forget about how or when they got admitted, it's a long story anyway.

In one of the speech by the head of Indonesian "Tiong Hoa" community, one sentence reminds me how true it is.

We are all Indonesian; we don't choose to be who we are, but we born, lived and will die as Indonesian.

I am so touched. Really.

I can tell you I am not somebody who patriotic. *We probably thought to be one during the primary or secondary school, but I was not those who sees that*
But today, this sentence is my wake-up call. I can hate those who scold the IBCs, or even revenge, but what of use? I think love has cover up everything :) - I pray that one day Indonesia can be the hope of every nation.

I love one the Indonesian song titled "Indonesia, Tanah Air Beta" meaning: Indonesia, my fatherland. *beautiful beyond words*

Lyrics:
Indonesia tanah air beta (Indonesia, my fatherland)
Pusaka abadi nan jaya (lasting legacy and prosperous)
Indonesia sejak dulu kala (Indonesia, since always)
Tetap dipuja-puja Bangsa (be praised by other country)

Di sana tempat lahir beta (there, the place I born)
Dibuai dibesarkan Bunda (be lulled and raised by (my) mother)
Tempat berlindung di hari tua (the shelter in (my) old days)
Tempat akhir menutup mata (the place where (I) close (my) eyes)

Indonesia, be the hope and the light. I pray.

I can imagine there's a certain amount of dissonance being of a Chinese background in Indonesia... I suppose things are getting better tho, albeit slowly...

So I hope this gives you some insight in what a film Director is.
